Who Were the Jacobites? An Annotated List of Works

£0+
2 ratings

Learn to tell a Jacobite from a Jacobin--or a Jacobean, for that matter! Jacobitism is the antidote to Whig History and the key to Neo-Reaction. This annotated and illustrated bibliography will introduce you to the Jacobites-- the supporters of James II of England, Scotland and Ireland, and his heirs--  via an extensive list of varied sources, including links.  The Jacobites offer a glimpse into the Absolutist and Legitimist alternative to liberalism that was  lost in 1688, when England's last Catholic king was deposed in favour of William of Orange, setting the Three Kingdoms on a path to bitter division. Several attempts were made to regain the throne, culminating in Bonnie Prince Charlie's 1745 Uprising. Retracing this history opens up possibilities for traditionalist response to the dominant narrative of Progress.
